Promoting Safety. Advancing Standards. Powering Progress.

For over a century, the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) has led the development of safety standards and best practices for industrial, medical, food, and specialty gases—ensuring a safe, reliable, and sustainable industry.

Our mission is to promote ever-improving safe, secure, and environmentally responsible manufacture, transportation, storage, transfilling, and disposal of industrial, medical, and food gases and their containers.
Safety isn’t just our goal—it’s our legacy.

Leading the Industry in Safety Since 1913

The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) is the recognized authority on safety standards for gases and equipment that fuel modern life. Our 165+ member companies span the globe, from multinational corporations to family-owned businesses, representing every facet of the industry: manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, transporters, and equipment producers. Though often unseen, compressed gases power industries that drive 24% of the U.S. GDP, support 34,000 American jobs, and contribute over $10 billion annually to the economy. Every job in our sector creates more than five additional jobs across the broader economy.
